The goal of OSSC winter training is a simple one. IMPROVE TECHNIQUE!! The club has identified technical proficiency as the #1 attribute a player can have. To that end, the majority of our winter sessions will focus on the technical aspects of soccer. We will touch on tactical cues here and there, but for the most part, your children will be concentrating on improving their dribbling, passing, receiving, ball striking, etc....
Training policy - If you would like to pick up extra training sessions, you must have attended both of your sessions that week and get permission of the coach whose session you want to attend. Many sessions are very full with their own team and unless they have some absent, may not have room for others.
***Notes***
#1 - Attendance is taken at all sessions. Players should try to make AT LEAST 50% of all practices. Please make training with your primary team a priority.
#2 - Please be on time for practice!! It is simple courtesy and respect for your teammates and coaches time. It is very important that you train with your own team and show commitment to your teammates to develop as a player and a team.
#3 - Please leave all bags, street shoes and water bottles in the lockers.
#4 - Please respect the facilities. Its ours, lets take care of it.
#5 - Street shoes may NOT be worn for training sessions. Please bring dry appropriate shoes to train in.
Parents and fans alike please remember - Games are a part of sport. The point of the game is to win. However, humans created sport for their enjoyment and to enrich the quality of life. It is fundamental, therefore, that it matters how we participate in sporting activities. In this respect, the means matter more than the end. Thus the means of winning in sports should not lessen the value of the game as a sport.
Indoor Cancellation policy - We will follow the schedule of the Vernon-Verona Sherrill School district. If they cancel after school activities, then we will not hold training.
